Putting Pressure on Yourself is the Ego

Do you get so lost in the contents of your mind, that you forget to marvel in the beauty of the world around “you”?

I do.

See, I have and always will tell you that the thing that matters most is how YOU feel. I’ll remind you that it is all an internal experience, it’s simultaneously all you and all for you, and that the highest decision to be made in the Now moment is to align with your joy.

This all still holds true.

But what I’ve become increasingly aware of what goes on with me, is that at times I get so caught up with wanting to “be my best”, I ironically get trapped into putting a sort of pressure on myself that doesn’t make me feel good. This can only be the ego.

In this pursuit of being and feeling better, I sometimes lose sight of the knowing that while this is about me, it isn’t just about me.

There is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to be and feel better, but ask yourself: who is it that wants these things, and who is it that you are doing this for?

Are you doing it for the separate sense of self you perceive, for the avatar you are playing? Are you doing it for the results you see on the surface, the person you see in the mirror?

Or are you doing it for something bigger?

Choose joy, choose growth, choose good feelings, choose you, these are still my core guidelines. But when you disconnect with who “you” really are, it makes making these choices more difficult.

Because you aren’t just that person in the mirror. And what you feel isn’t just felt by that person. If you start to believe these ideas are true, you’ll also likely begin to put pressure on yourself. You’ll tell yourself to be better, you might even be thinking you need to be better for “them”.

But this isn’t about being better for them, this is about feeling better for you. Feeling better for us.
